In the opening a big blast of pepper hit me first. As it settles into it the lovely oud is very strong and more of an earthy "dirty" oud, it's only a hint to me and there's a dark green cypriol in there too. The sweetness from the rose is very unusual and smokey, I get it more in the aftersmell. As it develops more the oud note becomes more rounded with more of the rose and a lovely muskiness. After an hour or so the smokey rose and gorgeous musks sit under the elegant oud notes with the hints of the cypriol long long into a very long dry down.
So yes, this is more complex than I've really described. Obviously when I talk about things I try to average out each experience, but this again you'll notice different aspects each time. Now the unusual smokey rose is very unique but as I got used to it was something I really enjoyed. In fact I'd say the best part of it with the musks. So yes it's a sort of rose oud but like most rose oud fragrances it is unique and very much something I really enjoyed.
